inspirations, and carry them on by thy gracious assistance, that
every prayer and work of ours may begin always with thee, and through
thee be happily ended. Amen.

2. Acts of the Theological Virtues and of Contrition (Actus virtutum
theologalium et contritionis)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly,
according to any legitimate formula, the acts of the theological
virtues faith, hope, charity and of contrition. Each act is indulgenced.
3. Hidden God (Adoro te devote)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly
this hymn.
4. We have come (Adsumus)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly
this hymn.
5. To thee, O blessed Joseph (Ad te, beate Ioseph)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly
this prayer.
6. We give thee thanks (Agimus tibi gratias)
We give thee thanks, O Almighty God, for all thy blessings: who
livest and reignest for ever and ever. World without end. Amen.

this prayer.
7. Angel of God (Angele Dei)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly
this prayer.
8. The Angel of the Lord (Angelus Domini)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly recite
the Angelus in the form appropriate for the time of the year. It is a
praiseworthy and pious practice to recite these prayers in the early
morning, at noon, and in the evening.
9. Soul of Christ (Anima Christi)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who recite devoutly
this prayer.
10. Visit to a Cemetery (Coemeterii visitatio)
An indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted
to the faithful, who devoutly visit a cemetery and pray, even if only
mentally, for the departed.
The indulgence is plenary each day from the 1st to the 8th of
November; on other days of the year it is partial.
11. Visit to an early Christian Cemetery or Catacomb (Coemeterii
veterum christianorum seu catacumbae visitatio)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly visit
one of the early Christian cemeteries or catacombs.
12. Act of Spiritual Communion (Communionis spiritualis actus)
An Act of Spiritual Communion according to any pious formula is
enriched with a partial indulgence.
13. I believe in God (Credo in Deum)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who piously recite
the Apostles' Creed or the Nicene Creed.
14. Office of the Dead (Defunctorum officium)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who devoutly recite
the Divine Office of the Dead.
15. Out of the Depths (De profundis)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who piously recite
the psalm Out of the depths (Psalm 129).
16. Christian Doctrine (Doctrina Christiana)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful, who take part in
teaching or in learning Christian doctrine. One who in a spirit of
faith and charity teaches Christian doctrine can also gain a partial indulgence.
17. Lord God Almighty (Domine, Deus omnipotens)
Lord, God Almighty, thou hast have brought us safely to the beginning
of this day. Defend us today by thy mighty power, that we may not
fall into any sin, but that all our words may so proceed and all our
thoughts and actions be so directed, as to be always just in thy
sight. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hear us, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God; and graciously

A plenary indulgence is granted to the faithful who spend at least
three whole days in the spiritual exercises of a retreat.

to Jesus Christ King (Iesu dulcissime, Redemptor)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who piously recite
this Act of Dedication of the Human Race to Jesus Christ King. A
plenary indulgence is granted if it is recite publicly on the feast
of our Lord Jesus Christ King.
21. Litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
22. Litany of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
23. Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
24. Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
25. Litany of St. Joseph
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
26. Litany of the Saints
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this litany.
27. Magnificat (Magnificat)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who piously recite
the Canticle of the Magnificat.
28. Mary, Mother of Grace (Maria, Mater gratiae)
Mary, Mother of grace, Mother of mercy, Shield me from the enemy And
receive me at the hour of my death.
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this prayer.
29. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary (Memorare, o piissima Virgo Maria)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this prayer.
30. Have mercy on me (Miserere)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
Psalm 50.
31. Novena Devotions (Novendiales preces)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly take
part in the pious exercises of a public novena before the feast of
Christmas or Pentecost or the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed
Virgin Mary.
32. Little Offices
The following Little Offices are each enriched with a partial indulgence:
the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and St. Joseph.
33. Prayer for Sacerdotal or Religious Vocations (Oratio ad
sacerdotales vel religiosas vocationes impetrandas)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite a prayer
approved by ecclesiastical Authority for the above intention
34. Mental Prayer (Oratio mentalis)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who piously spend
some time in mental prayer.
35. O Sacred Banquet (O sacrum convivium)
O sacred banquet, in which Christ is received, the memory of his
Passion is renewed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of
future glory is given to us.
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this prayer.
36. Prayer for Unity of the Church (Pro unitate Ecclesiae oratio)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly a
prayer for the unity of the Church.
37. Monthly Recollection (Recollectio menstrua)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who take part in a
monthly retreat.
38. Eternal Rest (Requiem aeternam)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
the Requiem asternam. This indulgence is applicable only to the souls
in purgatory.
39. May it please thee, O Lord (Retribuere dignare, Domine)
May it please thee, O Lord, to reward with eternal life all those who
do good to us for thy Name's sake. Amen.

sorrowful, pray for the people, plead for the clergy, intercede for
all women consecrated to God; may all who keep thy sacred
commemoration experience the might of thine assistance.

42. Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (Sancti Apostoli Petre et Paule)
Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, intercede for us.
Guard thy people, who rely on the patronage of thine apostles Peter
and Paul, O Lord, and keep them under thy continual protection.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

43. Veneration of the Saints (Sanctorum cultus)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who, on the feast of
any Saint recite in his honor the oration of the Missal, Book of
Common Prayer, or any other approved by legitimate Authority.
44. Sign of the Cross (Signum crucis)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly sign
themselves with the sign of the cross while saying the customary
words: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit. Amen.
45. We fly to thy Patronage (Sub tuum praesidium)
We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our
petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.

46. Come, Holy Ghost (Veni, Sancte Spiritus)
A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who recite devoutly
this canticle.

enemy; let thy holy angels dwell with us to preserve us in peace; and
let thy blessing be upon us always; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
